don't like rice but like sandwiches?

this is a spin-off meal from my previous post. the previous post is also the only post until this post. perhaps i should just say "the post".

this is a spin-off meal from the post. i understand that you, like me, enjoy the comfort of eating delicious things between two slices of bread. it's like dress-casual wear. or dress-cazsch (not sure if that spelling is correct but i have no idea how to spell it out). dress-cazje. that one was too awkward. if you're uncertain your seemingly ultra classy meal is, infact, ultra classy (as anything paired with rice is), then covering it up with a sandwich will tone down that arrogant culinary asshole in us all.

still boil an ear of corn. this is still iowa. remember. right.
okay.

saute with evoo, sea salt, pepper: chopped onion, green pepper (i ran out of that delicious purple pepper :o ), and zucchini.
when lightly browned (i like crisp veggies), turn off heat.

while the sauteing is happening, make yourself useful by lathering a thick layer of hummus (protein) onto one side of bread (i enjoy grainy breads, but choose whatever because i obviously can't tell you that grainy breads blow any white bread of of the water).

carefully add the veggies atop the hummus side of bread (because hummus is sticky and will help the veggies from toppeling on the ground because, and this is if your like me, you'll for some reason put the bread on the edge of the table and probably saute too many veggies).

spoon on some of that fruit salsa. yes this sandwich is extreme. and yes i would have added cheese if i had any.

put the sandwich back on the frying pan for some light toastage. carefully turn the sandwich over, which will probably be very messy. don't be too proud.

take off the sweet corn from the burner.

place sandwich and corn on a plate and devour.

yes, i would be more of a grown-up if i didn't cut the corn in half: my saucepan is too little.
oh the agony.

farmers market. that is all.

it is true that i have another foodblog with some pals but for some reason i cannot access it, and haven't been able to for quite some time. so i made a new one. enjoy.

shouting out to stu, who has been on my case for a new blog of eats. here is a picture of stu wildly dancing at my brother's wedding a couple of months ago.

there is nothing in this world better than waking up from a dream that you're supposed to die in. it was weird. i was around a swingset just waiting to die, and everybody around me knew i was going to die. all trying to sympathize with me and then everything was turning blue and green and then i woke up. whoa! i was supposed to die really subtle and peaceful though, so at least there's that.

nope that doesn't have to do with food but i did eat cereal earlier this morning before i had that dream and can perhaps blame the muesli. i shouldn't buy cereal that's that expensive, but alas: it brings me back to ireland. indeed i am back. indeed it was grand.

indeed.

i haven't been to the saturday morning farmers market in a bit over two months, so this morning i went crazy.
crazy. you konw how i know this? i was short on cash and needed to find an atm..the first atm was out of order. normally, this would totally piss me off and i'd be all like "ooooh there's always next time". bullshit. i wanted vegetables. some fucking vegetables. i already had had samples upon samples at the market, which is a usual event and 70% of the reason why i go to the farmers market. i don't know why you wouldn't try every kind of aged gouda you could possibly try though. and so i walked 4 blocks to another atm. i did have a thought of that atm being out of order too, but i kept trekking. yes, i am making a thing out of this. it was, in fact, a crusade.

important side note: the mailman just came to the door with my dermatology creams. no more zits! i haven't had zits like this since middle school. bleeehehhh.

when i came back to the market i bought things. delicious things. and decided that when i returned home i would make a delicious dish with those delicious things.

what i made: rice vegetabley dish with spices and rices and corn, don't forget corn! i'm from iowa.

1/2 c. rice---made this in the rice cooker before, then added it to the pan

*1/4-1/2 medium-sized purple pepper
*1/2 of a small candy onion
*zucchini, a bit
1 egg

*1 cob of sweet corn (not in the pan with things listed above) boiled in water, of course. corn on the cobbin, as my dad would say.

*fruit salsa (on the side). because salsa rules. and fruit rules. so that means fruit salsa double rules.
excellent.

salt, pepper, cayenne, tidge of soysauce, evoo

washed down with a glass of simply grapefruit in a very appropriate joe's place mug. joe's place is a bar. it is my favorite bar because they have 4 games that i greatly enjoy: pinball, pool, pacman, foosball. gimme yo quarters.

evoo= extra virgin olive oil, in case nobody has seen rachel ray define that in nearly every one of her episodes
